Novels are categorised into genres by simply specifying which categories or subcategories they fall within. In the event that you are a regular book reader, you are most likely already familiar with some of the book genres that you have read or that you enjoy reading.
Throughout this essay, you will learn about the two primary sorts of books and their sub-categories, which are referred to as genres of books or book genres in the literature world.
Fiction
Fiction novels contain a made-up storey — a storey that did not actually occur in real life – and are therefore classified as fiction. These stories are the result of the authors’ imaginations and ingenuity, and they are not based on any real-world events.
Examples of fiction works include The Alchemist by Paulo Coelho, 1984 by George Orwell, and the Harry Potter series by J. K. Rowling, to name just a few.
Nonfiction
Nonfiction or nonfiction books are books that are based on facts. In contrast to fiction literature, they are based on facts and information that can be independently verified as accurate and reliable.
Non-fiction books include, for example, The Autobiography of Benjamin Franklin by Benjamin Franklin, Dale Carnegie’s How to Win Friends and Influence People, and an encyclopaedia, among other things.
You may also come across a category referred to as semi-fiction from time to time. Don’t be misled by the name. Even semi-fiction novels are considered to be works of fiction by the general public. In addition to the made-up plot, these books also contain some true facts about the subject matter.
To give an example, the bestselling novel The Kite Runner by Khaled Hosseini is based on true historical events that occurred in Afghanistan, yet the tale described in the book is entirely fictitious.
Book Genres are divided into two categories.
The sorts of books listed above can be further subdivided into numerous sub-categories, and each of these sub-categories is referred to as a genre. During this session, we will discuss the many book genres that fall under the fiction and non-fiction categories.
